Get to Know Us
We are a Wanaka-based security, fire alarm, and communication business, proudly serving Central Otago and beyond since 2013. Inspired by operating methods introduced in Europe in the late 1990s, we work alongside a network of highly skilled and reliable local subcontractors, enabling us to deliver even the largest projects with professionalism and efficiency. By keeping overheads low—minimizing in-house stock and focusing on essentials from our suppliers—we are able to pass significant cost savings directly on to our valued customers.
Born and raised in Germany, I began my career with German Telecom as an IT technician, installing everything from basic phone systems to large telecom exchanges and pioneering digital communication technology later known as ISDN.
During my compulsory military service, I trained in the installation and maintenance of radio communication systems. After completing the service, I transitioned into the security and fire alarm industry—a field in Europe typically led by technicians with an IT background rather than purely electrical.
I joined Bosch Security and Safety Systems, Europe’s largest provider of security and fire solutions, and quickly advanced from senior technician to project designer, and later to site manager. My work included high-security projects for government institutions, embassies, and museums in Bonn, where I gained invaluable experience with some of the most advanced security systems available. Later, I managed major installations such as the Post Tower in Bonn and the Toyota Formula 1 Racing facility in Cologne.
After migrating to New Zealand, I founded a security company in Wanaka, which I successfully ran for over a decade. During this time, I managed a team of staff across Central Otago and was involved in projects for Placemakers, Mitre 10, New World, and numerous high-profile private clients. I became known for my commitment to high standards, strong organizational skills, and ability to deliver tailored solutions.
With more than three decades of experience in the European and New Zealand fire and security alarm industries, I established Building Safety and Communication to bring the latest global innovations to my customers. I carefully select and test each product to ensure it meets my standards for security, reliability, usability, and value.
If you’re looking for a solution that balances high-quality electronic security with reliability and cost-effectiveness, I’d love to design a system that suits your specific needs.

How a security fog cannon works
"Thieves can’t steal if they can’t see."
-
Fog cannon is using a special liquid to release a fog. Depending on liquid tank size, device power, and fog releasing time (customizable by user or integrator), a full liquid tank is providing liquid capacity for one or (typically) many usages, anywhere between 30 sec to even 20 minutes or more, between the need of a liquid refill.
-
A fog cannon is being triggered automatically by an alarm system, or most often remotely by a customer or central monitoring station operator when needed (included in Angelcam's real-time security plan)
-
A fog cannon creates a smoke barrier within seconds, and after a while, it fills a room with dense fog.
-
Burglars typically get startled and leave the scene immediately.
-
In the rare case, they don't leave instantly, a smoke is preventing the intruder from seeing anything, so they are leaving just then.
-
Visibility stays obscured anywhere between 20 minutes and several hours, depending on fog cannon power, fog production time, room size, and air ventilation (opening windows or even using fans).
-
The fog cannon can be triggered again to increase fog density if needed.
-
Typically fog generated has pleasant citrus or other scents to not be mismatched with fire smoke.
-
Smoke is breathable, safe, and harmless. The smoke produced by most devices leaves no residue.
